Those dreaded steps to childcare

Mommy dragged her feet too today little one
The tight hug of your tiny hands lingered with her all day
She stood outside as you cried, hoping it’ll stop
But today it seemed you wanted to cuddle away

Little one, you’re all that mom loves in this World
More than the pizza or the daddy,
Or the nana and the nani
Than her sparetime, than her movies
Than her favourite work stories

Little one, know that its a tough World out there
And we’re priveleged with a plate of food, a roof and rooms to spare;
Without mommy and daddy’s work
We’ll be priveleged no more.
Know that its all to give you a better life
You’ll grow to recognise the gift from us
I can only hope.
