Fathers day 2018

Was scared of raising a son
I’ve barely known a man, other than the shadow of my father.
Then I recalled the King who taught me to be:
A princess warrior.
In a world of patriarchy,
He inspired me to be an independant woman.
He taught me the meaning of equality
When it was just a word in the dictionary
I learnt to appreciate art and history,
I learnt to turn my words to poetry,
My little hands learnt to paint and sketch
Thanks to the shadow of my dad.
From the smallest to the biggest of my dilemmas
He always has answers
He is the epitome of trust, loyalty, truthfulness and inspiration
He is my bao, my father.
When I see my son and the man I’d raise –
I know deep down
I’ll teach him to inherit the heritage of my father.
